All Saints' Ainslie
All Saints’ Church, Ainslie ACT was originally the Rookwood (Sydney) mortuary station. It was moved to Canberra in the 1950s. Repair and maintenance details were prepared to overcome stone damage and other deterioration. |
Bridgewater
The all-welded steel trusses of the Bridgewater Bridge over the River Derwent, Tasmania were some of the first in the world and the first where weld fatigue problems had been accommodated. The 1940 bridge was saved from possible demolition following a supplementary heritage study undertaken at the instigation of the Tasmanian Heritage Council. |
Campbelltown Convict Structures
The c.1840 reservoir and cattle tank at Campbelltown NSW were built from sandstone with convict labour. We provided detailed drawings and specifications for the conservation of the reservoir, cattle tank and two silt trap structures. |

Clares Bridge
Clares Bridge on the Great North Road dates from the 1820s and is one of the oldest in Australia. The stonework has been conserved ready for a replica deck when funds allow. |
Coramba Bridge
Coramba Bridge near Coffs Harbour, NSW, is one of the last Allan Truss timber bridges built in NSW. A Conservation Management Plan for the Bridge and the remains of the adjacent butter factory was prepared for Coffs Harbour Council. |
Elizabeth Farm
Australia’s oldest European building, dating from 1793, has suffered from foundation movements due to reactive clays for much of its life. An extensive soil moisture monitoring system was installed. After some years of measurement the installation of an irrigation system followed to stabilize foundation soil moisture. |

GNR Pavement
Much of the closed portion of the Great North Road (1820s) north of Wisemans Ferry on the Hawkesbury River is inaccessible without off-road vehicles. Using photogrammetry, detailed drawings have been prepared for its conservation and return to a trafficable condition. Special sandstone pavement materials have been designed and sourced to replicate the original as much as possible. |
Hobart Bond Store
The 1824 Bond Store in Hobart is now part of the Tasmanian Museum and is well known as the set of the ABC television series “The Collectors”. Bill Jordan undertook a structural condition survey which addressed its needs for continuing use and strengthening requirements for earthquake and wind actions. |
Horseshoe Bridge
Horseshoe Bridge at Longford, Tasmania was built by convicts c.1840. The bridge was assessed and analysed and strengthening was design to overcome the arch delamination and restore its strength. |

Lime Mortar
A synthetic hydraulic lime mortar mixed ready for use. Bill Jordan has been instrumental in investigating original lime mortars and designing suitable replacements. |
Mt Morgan Big Stack
The "Big Stack" at the Mount Morgan Mine near Rockhampton, Queensland, was, at 250 ft (76 m), the highest brick chimney ever built in Australia. Over a number of years the stack has been assessed and its conservation procedures specified. |
St Mary's Cathedral, Hobart
The feasibility of completing the tower and spire of St Mary’s Cathedral Hobart has been investigated and the preliminary structural design concept produced. Bill Jordan has also been engaged in detailing the sandstone cladding for the proposed new chapter house for the cathedral. |

St Pat's Colebrook
St Patrick’s Church Colebrook, Tasmania, is one of the few in Australia designed by the great English gothic–revival architect, AW Pugin. The bellcote on the eastern end of the nave was destroyed by a gale in the 1890s and engineering design was undertaken for a replacement bellcote with internal “Cintec” reinforcement. |
St Thomas' Port Macquarie
The 1827 convict–built church of St Thomas in Port Macquarie NSW has suffered from brickwork deterioration and foundation settlement cracking. Design was undertaken to strengthen and conserve the brickwork and stabilize the foundation. |
Wilderness Road de Burgh Truss
We have produced a Conservation Management Plan for the rare timber truss bridge at Rothbury, NSW for Cessnock City Council. The bridge is one of the few surviving built to the design of the eminent late 19th and early 20th century Public Works Engineer EM de Burgh. |

Vibration monitoring
Up to 12 accelerometers and two recorders can be deployed with spectrographic analysis using special ‘Matlab’ procedures. It has been shown that proper analysis and feedback for blasting design can lead to large increases in allowable vibration levels and more economical explosives usage. |
Yarralumla Chimney
The former Canberra Brickworks at Yarralumla produced the bricks for much of the earlier construction in the nation’s capital. The brick chimney was the tallest such structure ever built in Canberra and its preservation was considered to be a heritage priority. Town houses built in a subdivision close to the chimney needed protection in the event of extraordinary winds or earthquake and an innovative strengthening system was designed using an internal steel frame acting compositely with the brickwork. |
